As such it attracts the highest political and public attention. What is largely ignored in the debate, however, is the fact that Armenians were not the only victims of the Young Turk's genocidal population policies. What is still largely forgotten is the murder, expulsion and deportation of other ethnic groups like Assyrians, Greeks, Kurds and Arabs by the Young Turks. This not only increases the number of victims, but also changes the perspective on the foundation of modern Turkey and as such on modern Turkish history more generally. The Thematic Issue of the JGR, the republication of which is proposed here, is the first publication, which addresses these wider issues. It contributes not only to our understanding of the Young Turks' population and extermination policies in all its complexities and so helping to bring the forgotten victims' stories "back" into genocide scholarship, but to our understanding of modern Turkey more generally. Την Κυριακή 8 Φεβρουαρίου 2009 η ΤΕΔΚΝΑ (Τοπική Ένωση Δήμων και Κοινοτήτων Ν. Αττικής ), σε συνεργασία με τον Σ.Ε.Γ.Α.Σ και τους Δημοτικούς Αθλητικούς Οργανισμούς των Δήμων Αττικής, προκηρύσσουν Αγώνα Δρόμου 10 χλμ. σε Δημόσια Οδό με την επωνυμία« Μαραθώνιος Ειρήνης – Συμπαράστασης στο Λαό της Παλαιστίνης».• 10.00 Ελευσίνα: Πριν την εκκίνηση θα διεξαχθεί Λαμπαδηδρομία από τον Αρχαιολογικό Χώρο της Ελευσίνας ( ώρα 10:00), μέχρι την Αφετηρία του αγώνα των 10χλμ, στην είσοδο της Μονής Δαφνίου, όπου θα γίνει μικρή τελετή και το άναμμα Βωμού.• 11.30 Μονή Δαφνίου: Αφετηρία διαδρομής• 11.45 Αιγάλεω: Άφιξη δρομέων δια της Ι. Οδού και συνέχεια διαδρομής προς το σύνταγμα (Διαδρομή: μέσω της Ιεράς Οδού, Πειραιώς – Ομόνοια - Σταδίου, Σύνταγμα)• 14.30 Σύνταγμα: Θα πραγματοποιηθούν εκδηλώσεις με παραδοσιακά χορευτικά συγκροτήματα της πόλης του Αιγάλεω.• 17.30 Σύνταγμα: Θα ακολουθήσει η Συναυλία αγάπης με συμμετοχή σημαντικών καλλιτεχνών.Στις 15.00 « O ΚΑΥΚΑΣΟΣ » θα συμμετάσχει σε αυτή την εκδήλωση παρουσιάζοντας μέσα από ένα πλούσιο πρόγραμμα τους παραδοσιακούς χορούς με συνοδεία ζωντανής μουσικής από λύρα, νταούλι και αγγείο – ζουρνά, τον ποντιακό Ελληνισμό εκφράζοντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο την συμπαράστασή του στον Παλαιστινιακό Λαό.Σκοπός των διοργανωτών και του συλλόγου μας, είναι να στείλουμε ένα ηχηρό Μήνυμα Ειρήνης, καταδικάζοντας και καταγγέλλοντας την ωμή βία που ασκείται επί σειρά ετών στον Παλαιστινιακό Λαό.
