Το Athens Digital Arts Festival παρουσιάζει τη διαδραστική εγκατάσταση «Leave a message» στο Μοναστηράκι!
Στο πλαίσιο του 11ου Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών της
Ελλάδας, Athens Digital Arts Festival, πραγματοποιήθηκε το workshop της
media artist Yoana Buzova «Leave a message».
Το project ξεκίνησε πριν από μερικούς μήνες σε διάφορες χώρες
(Ολλανδία, Αυστρία, Βουλγαρία, Κροατία και Βραζιλία) δημιουργώντας ένα
δίκτυο τηλεφωνητών, μέσω των οποίων το κοινό καταγράφει και ανταλλάσσει,
σε πραγματικό χρόνο, ηχητικά μηνύματα σε δημόσιους χώρους ανά τον
κόσμο.
Εάν, λοιπόν, περπατήσεις στο ιστορικό κέντρο της Αθήνας, στην οδό Μιλτιάδου 18, θα ανακαλύψεις αυτόν τον πράσινο αυτοσχέδιο τηλεφωνητή στην πόρτα ενός νεοκλασικού κτηρίου και θα ακούσεις το τελευταίο ηχογραφημένο μήνυμα από κάποιον περαστικό που βρισκόταν στην Ολλανδία, την Αυστρία, τη Βουλγαρία, την Κροατία ή τη Βραζιλία. Ταυτόχρονα, μπορείς να αφήσεις το δικό σου μήνυμα, το οποίο, χάρη στη γρήγορη σύνδεση που προσφέρει το OTE VDSL, θα ακουστεί σε διάφορες γωνιές του κόσμου, αναπτύσσοντας ένα παγκόσμιο δίκτυο επικοινωνίας.
Ξεκινώντας από τη Διπλάρειο Σχολή, η Yoana δημιούργησε μαζί με τους συμμετέχοντες το λογισμικό που αποτελεί το βασικό πυρήνα του δικτύου και του αυτοσχέδιου τηλεφωνητή, χρησιμοποιώντας τον μικροεπεξεργαστή Raspberry Pi και τη γλώσσα προγραμματισμού Python, δημιούργησαν. Με την ολοκλήρωση της κατασκευής του τηλεφωνητή, τον τοποθέτησαν στο κέντρο της Αθήνας με στόχο να «συνδέσουν» την πόλη της Αθήνας με τον υπόλοιπο κόσμο.
To 11ο Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) ολοκλήρωσε τον περασμένο Μάιο ακόμα μία επιτυχημένη διοργάνωση, με την ευγενική χορηγία του OTE-COSMOTE. Φέτος, με τον τίτλο Public Space_s, το Φεστιβάλ ανέδειξε σε διάφορα σημεία του ιστορικού κέντρου της Αθήνας: την έννοια του δημόσιου χώρου και την εμπειρία μας σε σχέση με αυτόν, ενεργοποιώντας την κριτική γλώσσα και την αισθητική του ψηφιακού μέσου. Σύντομα θα ανακοινωθούν οι νέες ημερομηνίες διεξαγωγής του ADAF για το 2016 καθώς και το ανοιχτό κάλεσμα συμμετοχής για δημιουργούς.

Athens Digital Arts Festival presents the interactive installation «Leave a message» at Monastiraki!
In the framework of the 11th Athens Digital Arts Festival, the media artist Yoana Buzova held the workshop «Leave a message».
«Leave a message» is a participatory project, a network of voice
mailboxes that allow members of the public to record and distribute
their audio messages in public space. The boxes are installed in
different countries, cities and contexts. Connected to each other, the
boxes provide playful, performative moments for strangers to break from
their routine and enter a network of anonymous communication.
So, if you take a walk in the historic center of Athens, you can discover this green makeshift voice mailbox hanging on the door of a neoclassical building in 18 Miltiadou street where you can listen to the last recorded message by anyone around the globe. Meanwhile, thanks to the fast speeds offered by OTE VDSL, you can become part of a global communication network by leaving your own message that will be heard in various corners of the world.
During the workshop, which was held at Diplareios School, the participants were introduced in the programming language Python and Raspberry Pi computers in order to program the software that is the heart of the network. Finally, they analyzed different strategies related to DIY networks and placed the device in the city centre with the aim to connect Athens with the rest of the world.

Under the theme of Public Space_s, the festival expanded in various public spots of the city and highlighted the notion of public space, one of the most controversial concepts of our days. By triggering our experience and relationship to public spaces, the festival explored the critical language and aesthetics of the digital medium. The dates of the 12th ADAF, which will take place in late spring 2016, will be soon announced along with the open call for artists.
